Save the Earth While Your Computer Sleeps
You may have heard of SETI or other screensavers that are actually doing "work" for big research experiments on your computer while you don't use it. Well, you too, can contribute to "the largest climate experiment ever undertaken". It's a project at Oxford that will run climate models with the spare processing power of your machine while your're not using it. It's called distributed computing and makes for a big fat supercomputer for a good cause. It's sooo easy, too, and the screensaver is neat. More info.
